Every Other Week Post #2

General / 10 November 2020

So ok, I´m kinda lying with the "Every Other Week" thing since it´s been more like 3 since my first post. Not off to a good start with sticking to regular posts, oops! 😝

That doesn´t mean I´ve just been sitting around doing nothing. Sadly though, the gun I posted last time has been on the back burner and hasn´t gotten that much attention yet. The main reason is that I´ve been busy and just a tad bit stressed about doing interviews with some awesome game studios for my upcoming internship period at FutureGames.

Incredibly enough I ended up securing an internship at Massive Entertainment. I´m super excited and incredibly humbled to be moving down to Malmö and starting my internship there on the 18th of January! Now to find a place to live in Malmö before then. Worst case I´ve been recommended some good bridges I could live under. 😅

I´ve also started working on my 10-week degree project at FutureGames. I´ve done some blocking out of the environment I´ll be making, here it is so far:

I guess I´ll also sneak in a screen of the progress on the gun, although there hasn´t been much progress or time put in on it yet:

That´s all folk! 😁

First blog post :)

Work In Progress / 21 October 2020

So I haven´t really done blogposts before and I don´t think a lot of people will read this. But I figured that it might be a good habit to post here at least once every two weeks. Hoping it´ll help me stay extra productive since I know I´ll have to post something up here regularly. We´ll see how it goes! :D

So recently I´ve been tackling one of my weaker points which is just pure modeling. I´ve struggled a lot with complex shapes and transitioning from soft to hard shapes. So decided that I was going to do more of this since even if this doesn´t turn out my main area of expertise that I´m working with, I feel this is one of the things I should at least be decent at.

So the result I´ve come up with is this German Luger from the Wolfenstein games. I got to practice working with subdivs and booleans which I haven´t spent that much time with before. In the end, I think it turned out ok and now I´m definitely pumped to do more stuff like this to improve myself further and eliminate this nasty weak point :D

Here are some screenshots of my baked low poly version if you want to have a look. Also, I totally would love to get some feedback if there is something weird that sticks out about it :)
